The engine recognises which platform the file comes from, locates the original page inside each wrapper and rebuilds the PDF from those pages only. Any other document goes through a generic method that removes full-page ads and banners. Before handing you the result, the site counts the pages and discards any output that ends up empty or removes more than 80% of the document; if nothing passes the check, you get your original file back untouched.
