A tool built by students, for students.
Gulag Cleaner exists because study PDFs are drowning in ads. Platforms like Wuolah, StuDocu and Z-Library ship every download with sponsored pages, covers and mid-document banners. A reasonable business model — and a terrible reading experience.
The project started as a tiny Rust command-line tool called gulagcleaner on GitHub, aimed at Spanish university PDFs. This web version brings the same idea to the browser: nothing to install, no uploads, no account.
Three rules we don't break
- Zero uploads. Not one byte of your PDF leaves your device.
- Zero dark patterns. No modals, no cross-sells.
- Whole pages only. We never rewrite the content of a page you want to keep.
Open source
The engine comes from the original gulagcleaner Rust project, published on GitHub under the GPL-3 licence, which gives this domain its name. gulagcleaner.pro is an independent web version of that engine: it is not affiliated with gulagcleaner.com or with any commercial PDF vendor, and never will be.
